Tuxedo Boot Camp

When trying on tuxedos, make sure the arms on your jacket are large enough to give you a full range of motion. Hug the friend that accompanies you to your fitting to make sure the jacket isn’t constrictive.

If you plan on wearing a vest, take a swatch of the bridesmaids dress with you when picking colors. There are a million shades of “pink.” Sometimes it’s best to match the muted color instead of the predominant color. Ask your future wife for help…

Always opt for a vest with a full back because the jackets will inevitably come off by the end of the night.

You should be able to fit one finger between the collar of your shirt and your neck, but no more than that. Stretch out your arms to make sure the cuffs don’t ride up.

Pants should break over the instep, about 1/3 of the way down the shoe.

Your body may fluctuate drastically from one month to another. Go in for a fitting about two weeks before your wedding. If you are marrying in April or May we recommend reserving your tuxes a month in advance because of the higher demand during the prom season.

NEVER LEAVE THE TUXEDO SHOP ON YOUR BIG DAY WITHOUT TRYING EVERYTHING ON!
